This estate once included a large parcel of land that was subdivided twice, once for a son of the Coleman family and then after we purchased it in 1997. We had just relocated to the neighborhood and fell in love with the charm of the home and history shared by the aging Coleman son, Robert. We saw the potential and decided to use our restoration skills to restore this historic marvel to modern standards. We painstakingly removed & salvaged the cypress from the walls to gain access to the inadequate and faulty electrical, heating and air conditioning ducts and plumbing. After bringing the home to current building code and insulating, we re-installed the cypress, cleaned and oiled it to bring out its natural patina. All pulley system windows and transoms were repaired to working order. The kitchen and baths were remodeled, a slight addition made room for a breakfast nook and closets were made within eaves and available space.
The final touch to this challenging, but rewarding project was a garage with a bright and functional art studio above.
